Leg warmers

It is winter and getting cold, although we are seriously missing snow in Helsinki. In ballet, it is essential that the ankles are warm (and after the Achilles operation last spring, I am super-cautious). These cute leg warmers will do the trick. 

.. and these are street credible as well. Will try tomorrow, on my way to work.

Poncho like a candy

This candy-color yarn was impossible to resist in a yarn shop I visited in Kallio (Helsinki) the beginning of summer. I bought a few grams in baby blue and a few grams in multi-candy-colors, and started crocheting flower-squares.

I made a few squares, 24 of each color, to be exact.

After that, a bit of sewing together.

And ... surprisingly, I ended up with a poncho. My favourite piece of cloth!

This poncho is a birthday gift for my sister daughter Lumi, who just turned 12. We did the fitting today and delivery will be next Saturday in the party.

P.S. The little model here is not the birthday girl.

Earrings to match the top

For the brand new light blue top, I also needed earrings.

Summer crochet top

My crohet top for this summer 2016 is light blue. I seem to have a blue period in my crocheting.

The pics were taken in beautiful Arild, Sweden.

The top is made out of squares and rectangulars. Easy and quick to make.

Be happy with crutches - Episode 2

A friend of mine walks with crutches as well. A couple of weeks ago he ordered these leg warmers from me. Lots of color and fox-theme was the brief. I delivered these last week. Hope they lighten up the day 😉

A little dress

The good thing about not being able to move so much is that one has all the time in the world to finish unfinished projects. This dress is one of them. It hang without a zipper for months in my closet... and now it is finished. Yeee!

This is how it looks on me ... Uups.

Recycled jeans bag

I started this project months ago by spraying some hearts into an old pair of jeans.

 Finally, today I took the scissors out and I cut out the pockets, to get started.

Next, I cut two squares of equal size ...

... I cut and sew the bottom of the bag and two side pieces.

I took the label from the jeans and added it to one of the sides as decoration.

Then, suddenly, my 40-year-old sewing machine stopped making proper stiches .... Hmmm ...

So, I took a Cup of tea to calm down 😊

Next, the zipper, a cute one.

And then the belt, that allowed me a bit of crocheting outside, in the lovely summerish weather, finally!

And the recycled jeans bag is ready!

Granny's shawl 2016

I have always wanted a granny-like shawl to put on my shoulders when the nights get cool on summer time. So, I decided to crochet one.

Octopussy for premature babies

I broke my achilles tendon a week ago. Now I am stuck with crutches and no sports, ballet, dance for weeks to come... Awful! ... But - positive news - time for crocheting .... Something meaningful.... Octopussies for premature babies who need something to grab on, instead of vital tubes that keep them alive. This is a crowd-crocheting initiative launched by a Finnish hospital. I feel useful! Again.

My daughter made a Blue one. I made a green one. Growing the Family.
