My 15 year-old jeans jacket got a new life today. I made the silhouette a bit slimmer (the hard job) and added a piece of lace (easy job) I got for free in our lovely local dressmakers' & fabric store (Norteva & Vuorento http://www.veeravuorento.fi) here in Käpylä. Thank You ladies.

Lengthen the life of little girls' dresses
My girls grow fast. So their dresses become too short very quickly. Yesterday I took two dresses and added a couple of layers of ruffles in the end of the dress. Now these dresses are still ok for the rest of the summer.

Earrings an 8-year-old can make
My 8 year old daughter made these earrings the other day. She cut the rose from baize (huopa in Finnish) and I only helped a bit with the glue. These are for parties, she said.

Necklace and earrings
I made for my sister this crochet necklace and earrings (see Virkkuri n:o 1 by Molla Mills). I think they look nice, but my sister thinks they are slightly too big for her. I probably need to make smaller ones for her.
Tawashi to replace a dishbrush
In the book Kerällä by Jonna Hietala I found this lovely tawashi that You can use to wash dishes, pots and pans and your sink. These are so cute and handy that I often make these as gifts to take when visiting a friend. I made one for my sister, but she thinks it is too cute to be used.
Pillow from old sweaters
My husband had a pile of old sweaters that he never used. Inspired by the book Sewing Green by Betz White, I took those and shrunk them in a high temperature in my washing machine. The outcome is this pillow cover I made.
Easy and quick kitchenware
I really like making little things for the kitchen. Here are some examples. Last Cristmas many friends of mine got coasters.
I also renewed our potholders at home recently.

From a few wooden rings, I created this pad to put a hot pan or kettle on. Not bad looking and so quick to crochet.

Bags and purses
Inspired by the bags that appear in the book Virkkuri by Molla Mills, I have made a lot of bags and purses. First I made a big one.
Then a smaller one - for the summer.

And several really small ones for little girls as gifts.
Purse for a mobile phone
It all started with these little purses I made in summer 2013. My two girls were starting their first year at school and they needed mobile phones (or at least I thought they needed phones). So, I decided to crochet them little purses where to keep the phones.
I had not had a crochet hook in my hands for 20 years, so I was slightly worried. The outcome was not bad, however, and since then crocheting, knitting, sewing have been part of my life again.
A more recent version I made for a friend of my girls.
