Did we just bake a Unicorn Cake?

I am not much of a baker. However, I like to take challenges. My daughters were having their 12th birthday this week-end and they wished to have a Unicorn cake for the event. Well ... one could always buy one, but, hey, one can also make one. After all, I know how to crochet .... it is probably more a less the same ...

Thanks to a collegue (who is a fantastic baker) I got hands-on coacing on the details plus some tools  for the process ... and we also watched a ton of videos on Youtube.
It all started with making and PAINTING the ears and the horn, a week before the party.

On Friday, we baked the cake.

On Saturday morning (early), we cut the cake in three pieces and prapared the raspberry filling.

And then the cake was ready for the frosting.

Frosting was probably the hardest part. It is so hard to get a smooth surface.

Finally, the guests came and we were ready to serve the Unicorn cake. It's not perfect, but hey - we made it ourselve! It tasted good as well.
